Guide for installing Snow Leopard to Vostro 3300-3700 series (Nvidia graphics) Is there another way of achieving this? Apple want various peripherals attached for 'clamshell mode' to qualify, and I can't go down that route.Building a CustoMac Hackintosh: Buyer's Guide The machine sits in a shared study, whose other user (my housemate) isn't trustworthy enough not to put some sort of sharp item through the screen, get food in the keyboard, or something else that a 29 year old man should have grown out of long ago. This is obviously not ideal for a media box. I downloaded and installed Amphetamine from the App Store and, whilst both apps do a great job and keeping the machine awake whilst the screen is on (something that running caffeinate from terminal did just fine), closing the lid puts the machine to sleep straight away. The app itself seems buggy - clicking on the menu bar icon freezes the system for a good minute before I get the menu, and even though 'Disable Lid Sleep' options are ticked, closing the lid puts the machine to sleep. I had installed InsomniaX to keep the thing awake, but recently it seems to have broken. It lives in the study connected to an external HDD and I use Screen Sharing as and when I need to fiddle with it.

My MBP is, for the most part, a media server.
